Canada-Ukraine
The Ukrainian diaspora deserves to have their representative in Ottawa, and I will continue to advocate for further Canadian support to ensure that international law, democracy, and respect prevail. Ukraine must win and finally enjoy a long-awaited and just peace.
Conservatives have always stood, and will always stand, with Ukraine. Below is a brief overview of the Conservative track record and Walter's role over the past three years:

September–November 2024 – Walter initiated and, with the support of Conservative MP James Bezan, successfully delivered a parliamentary petition calling on the government to recover tax money spent on Russians at War propaganda and investigate its director, former RT propagandist Anastasia Trofimova. He also worked with Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety, MP Raquel Dancho, to ensure that the RCMP collaborates with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) on this case.

June–August 2024 – Volodymyr worked with Conservative MP Larry Maguire and Mayor Jeff Fawcett to organize the twinning agreement between Brandon, MB, and Chervonohrad (now Sheptytskyi), Lviv Oblast, Ukraine.

May 2024 – Conservative MP Garnett Genuis introduced his private member's bill, Bill C-388, An Act to fast-track energy and mining projects and to facilitate the provision of munitions to Ukraine and develop its munitions industry.

April 2024 – Volodymyr became the first Conservative staff member to be sanctioned by russia.

February 2024 – Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called on the Liberal government to send 83,000 surplus CRV7 rockets to Ukraine. After months of delay, the Liberal government finally heeded this call.

February 2024 – Walter initiated and arranged a meeting with Conservative MPs James Bezan, Tom Kmiec, and Gerald Soroka, along with representatives from the Ukrainian World Congress, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and Serhiy Prytula.

September 2023–April 2024 – Volodymyr and Conservative MP Lawrence worked toward securing the twinning agreement between Port Hope, Ontario, and Nadvirna, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine.

May–August 2023 – With the support of Conservative MP Michael Barrett, Volodymyr arranged the third twinning agreement between North Grenville, ON, and Sokal, Ukraine.

June 2023 – Following the Nova Kakhovka dam explosion, Volodymyr initiated a second petition calling on the Government of Canada to designate the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism. This time, Conservative MP Luc Berthold sponsored and delivered it in Parliament.

December 2022–January 2023 – Volodymyr initiated a petition calling on the Government of Canada to designate the Russian Federation as a state sponsor of terrorism. Conservative MP Larry Brock sponsored and delivered it in the House of Commons.

August–November 2022 – Conservative MP Eric Melillo and Volodymyr arranged the second twinning agreement between Sioux Lookout, ON, and Vashkivtsi, Ukraine.

April 2022 – Walter collaborated with Conservative MP Larry Brock and Mayor Davis to arrange the first twinning agreement between the City of Brantford, ON, and Kamianets-Podilskyi, Ukraine.

March 2022 – Walter organized a meeting with Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen and Conservative staff of Ukrainian descent to coordinate the CPC’s efforts in supporting Ukraine.

March 15, 2022 – Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen called for the protection of airspace above humanitarian corridors in Ukraine.

March 13, 2022 – Walter and his team collected over 600 signatures in support of a no-fly zone over Ukraine, a government-assisted refugee program, and visa-free travel for Ukrainians. More than 20 MPs supported these petitions and presented them in the House of Commons.

March 7, 2022 – Walter worked with Conservative MP James Bezan to launch a petition campaign advocating for the closure of Ukrainian airspace.

February 28, 2022 – Conservatives highlighted Europe’s reliance on Russian natural gas and oil, warning that it only served to fill the pockets of vladimir putin. Conservatives urged the Canadian government to step in and supply Europe’s energy needs with clean, safe Canadian LNG and oil rather than allowing Europe to remain dependent on a bad actor like Russia.
