Canada’s national defence and security are at a critical crossroads. After nine years of Liberal incompetence and neglect, our military is weakened, and our allies no longer respect us. Hostile powers like China and Russia are eyeing our resources, shipping routes, and strategic Arctic territory.

Russia is aggressively expanding its military footprint in the Arctic. Russia now possesses a robust Arctic naval presence with submarines, surface combatants, and an icebreaker fleet far surpassing those of other Arctic nations. In addition to reopening Soviet-era military bases, Russia has bolstered its Northern Fleet and developed advanced hypersonic missiles specifically designed to evade NATO’s defences.

The world is becoming more dangerous and unstable, with emerging threats from terrorism, cyberattacks, and aggressive actions from foreign powers. Yet, the Liberals have failed to adequately support our armed forces and security agencies. Our military procurement processes are bogged down by bureaucracy, our northern defences are outdated, and our veterans face unacceptably long wait times for the benefits they deserve. Meanwhile, spending remains mismanaged, and Canada is not meeting its NATO commitment of spending 2% of GDP on national defence.

We need a stronger, more secure Canada. That starts with properly funding and equipping our military, modernizing our Arctic defences, and strengthening cybersecurity. We must also streamline defence procurement to get the right equipment into the hands of our armed forces faster.

Canada owes a debt of gratitude to our veterans, and we must honour their service and sacrifice. We need to reduce wait times for disability claims, ensure timely access to mental health support, and reform the Veterans Review and Appeals Board to better serve those who served us. Our commitment to veterans must be grounded in respect and ensuring they receive the benefits and care they deserve.
